getFLO is the commission-free ordering and local restaurant directory in the Aisle FLO estate, founded by Florindo Caiella. He has spent nearly four decades in hospitality across every role in the building, and that range is the reason the software starts from the pass rather than from the spreadsheet.
Nearly four decades in hospitality, in both halves of the building: cook, waiter, bartender, room service, catering manager, catering chef, and chef-operator — across fine-dining rooms, high-volume catering, and independent Toronto counters of his own.
Most restaurant software is built by people who have modelled a restaurant without ever having run a service. Having worked the whole building, he built getFLO around the thing independents actually lose money on: the delivery-platform commission that turns a paying table into a break-even one. Direct ordering here runs at true menu prices, and the customer relationship stays with the kitchen.
His cooking earned three of four stars from a national restaurant critic in 2005.
